Also.... I've seen Jason Johnson go from my staff ace into an 0-5 pitcher with over a 7 ERA after 12 starts the following season. I didnt bring in any new players, nothing. It was the same exact team from the previous season, no settings were altered.

It happens.

Did you guys notice BillVenke or any of those other guys who started off their careers great and tail off? They were ahead of everybody else when it came to being developed. When you start off in the majors, you dont develop to your potential. We're letting young players develop more than alot of us did, which gives them an advantage. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

You can only be ahead in the development process for so long before it catches up to you and others are further along. You can't dominate the game for your entire career. Or else everybody would be a Nolan Ryan or Barry Bonds.

Yeah, just look at him. His ratings are good but he's playing horrible, I'm also playing in a pitcher's park for crying out loud.

Nothing against anyone, just wanted to say that every guy in this league will experience that.

Don't want to see GFBL go.

Yeah Bill was in a pitchers park and couldnt do anything. I've had a ton of rookies, I think I've had the most in the league so far. And not many rookies have turned into effective SPs for me. Moss84 is probably the only one. Del was a veteran, MO has always been dominant, Cuthill I tried as a starter and its not working out, he was a rookie last season. Guzman and Bray had decent rookie campaigns but can't seem to improve at all. Danbo can't get things going either. I play in Dodger Stadium and I cant get rookies to pitch like they should. I dont think its so much rookie pitchers, but rookie hitters who are doing so well. Ive always thought that the settings needed to be altered because hitting is just too good. We have a 287 team average and 4 teams are doing better than that.

I haven't complained 1 time about losing this year. With the talent we have, we should be competing for a playoff spot. We have 9 guys hitting over 270, 6 of those 9 are hitting over 300. We've been about 500 or so since I've promoted guys, changed the lineup around and made a couple of trades. I feel we should be winning alot more than we are, but we aren't and I'm accepting that. With the guys we have, we should be scoring all the time.

Blazers have 8 guys over 270, Storm has 5, Invaders have 6, Juves have 2, Cyclones have 8, Felons have 7, Predators have 6, Beavers have 7 and Titans have 6. We have the most guys hitting over 270, yet we are 8th in runs scored. We should definitely be scoring more, but I'm not complaining nor am I assuming something fishy has gone on. I haven't thought it once at all since I've been a GM in this great league. Somethings things dont go your way or the way you expect them to go.

I feel we have a better team than the Invaders, but we just aren't winning for some reason. Maybe when we score runs, our opponents score more? Or when we have a brilliant pitching performance, we can't score that game? It might just work out that way, I'm not sure. But I've gotten off topic here. It's about rookies. Back to the point... 5 of my 9 guys hitting over 270 are rookies or 2nd year players. If you count MK, who I demoted after his injury for a sim or 2, that's 10 guys over 270 and 6 rookies/sophmores.

If you look at rookie/sophmore SPs, I have 0 who have an ERA under 4.50. My best rookie/sophmore SP has an ERA of 4.71. My best rookie/sophmore hitter is a 344 hitter with 7 HR and 60 RBI with 360 ABs, while missing 12 games. Its so simple to build a hitting team right now. Had I known this, I would've gone to Coors field. Winning teams usually focus around pitching, but in this league it really isn't all that necessary. I dont think its the rookies aspect that is the problem, I think it has more to do with the hitting/pitching aspect. There is too much emphasis on hitting, and having a ton of better hitters makes having good pitchers more difficult.

If you have alot more good hitters than you did previously, then your pitchers have to face a lot more tougher lineups than they used to. This might explain why top pitchers have been having down years all of a sudden. We need to do some tests and find a balance. A 278 team average shouldn't be 8th ranked in the league, and a 4.56 ERA shouldn't be 3rd. I'd expect 8th average to be more in the 250s and a 3rd team ERA to be in the lower 4s, maybe higher 3s.

We could also expand again. Doing so would make it so the rookies dont have the time to develop and be better than everybody. This would bring in 2 more GMs, have the place extremely active and keep the rookies from developing into huge studs. They would start on major league rosters just like all of us had to. It takes away that development process, makes everybody happy and creates more competition too.

We'd still have to fix the hitting/pitching factors, but I hope this is an idea to consider. I'm sure Neal would like to GM again. Disposable and Ford also seem to be very active in recent weeks and very good candidates.

If we put the players in the minor leagues up for the draft, that would free up 83 players for the draft. We obviously wouldn't need that much. So each team could put whoever is in their minors at the end of the year into the draft. Whoever doesn't get taken, gets to keep them. We could keep the minors, but whoever is in there at the end could be drafted. There is certainly more talent there now than in recent drafts.

I would suffer the most out of this. I'm proposing this idea for the good of the league, not for my own interest. My 19 players who would be eligible is tops over anybody else. I have some promising prospects but would be willing to sacrifice to make this place better.

Let me know what you guys think about it.

everyone calm down. just face the facts of ure player being (or getting) bad and take a sit. try to win an award or other ways to make him better rather than complaining. My player has sucked his whole career with his d**n ERA, but i just faced the facts that hes always gonna have a high ERA and im happy if hes just playing.

I agree with PK. My player is also on the decline after a steller 2008 rookie season. This is just supposed to be a fun and friendly game that you dont have to play. If you dont like it then join some other league.

Well, if we're going to expand, I wouldn't mind the chance to manage.

It is very easy to get worked up over such a simple issue, as this one. Cracking passwords is something not to be taken lightly in online simulation leagues.

Well, to sum it all up, dbacks is staying as Commish, but with him, Cwdorman and TimJohnson will be Co-Commishes.

Check out the Update thread.

Also, I don't think there's a need for this one any longer.
